Jivamukti Yoga is a path to enlightenment
through compassion
for all beings.

Sharon Gannon and David Life

Jivamukti Yoga was founded in 1984 (NYC) by Sharon Gannon and David Life.

Jiva means soul and mukti means liberation in sanskrit.

Jivamukti is a dynamic, vigorous yoga practice, which is rooted in Hatha Yoga, but includes elements from both Asthanga- and Vinyasa Yoga, where the different asanas (poses) are guided with the breath.

In a class you will move your body through different poses, learn different breathing techniques, yoga philosophy and not at least you will be familiar with Bhakti Yoga which Jivamukti is rooted in. In sanskrit Bhakti means devotion, therefore you will learn the benefits of chanting different mantras (short verses) as a part of the practice.

In Jivamukti we also have a Focus of the Month written by Sharon, David or one of the advanced or senior teachers from around the globe. The Focus of the Month will often lead to new or different perspectives of yoga and your daily life in general.

You will be guided safely through the whole class with different assists and a lot of uplifting, hip music. If you have any injuries, or if you are pregnant, I will help you with alternatives.

I am very grateful for my teachers and gurus Sharon Gannon and David Life.

You can read much more about the Jivamukti method here.

May all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
